Plane tickets – use your favourite flight search engine. If you don't have a favourite, try kiwi.com. It is ideal to choose an early morning flight for your arrival, so you can do everything that is planned for the first day.
Car rental – this holiday is quite demanding driving-wise. In total you will drive over 1,200 km, so choose a comfortable car. Be careful not to rent a car with a mileage limit. Sometimes you will be leaving your car in small car parks where there is a high risk of your car being scratched, so consider getting full car insurance. And BEWARE, they drive on the left here! Use AVIS car rental services.
Restaurants – even here in Scotland there are a few restaurants that are just for tourists. Either go to the ones we recommend or choose carefully.
Accommodation prices in the destination – nice accommodation is not exactly cheap. On the other hand, it's not overpriced either and there is a lot to choose from. The suggested accommodation is not the cheapest, and it's up to you whether you use our suggestions or go for something else.
Calls and data – check with your provider beforehand, the UK is no longer a member of the European Union. WiFi is common in hotels and restaurants and is free.
When to come here – pretty much any time, it just gets really cold in winter and you probably won't be able to get everywhere on the list. But I think at least some of it could be done in winter. But you'd better come here in summer, spring, or autumn.
TIP – if you want to save money, take the time to look for cheaper accommodation.
