- spring, summer, fall, winter
Madeira will captivate you. Beautiful nature, warm weather all year round, ideal place for hiking. In winter, it's likely to rain more often. In these six days, you will discover some truly wonderful treks. Including the beautiful trek to Pico Ruivo. You'll have the opportunity to drive through the whole island and spend a lot of time in nature. This holiday is a great opportunity for some active relaxation. And what’s more, the Madeira wine is delicious. You don't have to worry about the difficulty of the hiking trips, there are many trekking options, everyone can choose according to their physical abilities.
Relax in the morning or make your own programme. Departure.
You will most likely be leaving in the morning, so you won't be able to do much. Maybe just enjoy the pool in the hotel garden for a while.
The route to the airport is here and will take you about an hour.
ATTENTION – Keep an eye on the weather forecast for the day of your departure. Occasionally, flights are delayed or cancelled in very windy weather. If you are flying to Lisbon, from where you continue onwards, it might be tight, time-wise. Our plane was due to leave Madeira at about 11am, but the weather forecast said the winds would pick up in the morning and there was a risk of airport closure. We arrived at the airport at 8am and it paid off as we were checked onto a plane that was just ready to depart – an hour later the airport was closed for 8 hours. We were lucky that there was room on the morning flight to Lisbon.
A smaller hotel with great service. It’s not in any kind of centre, which suited us perfectly. Quiet stay, maybe a little too quiet sometimes, but that’s ok. They also offer great massages and the sauna. It is a bit further from the airport. Great choice for us.
The international airport is located a short distance from Funchal. The airport is smaller and very pleasant. An interesting feature is the local runway at 59 metres above sea level. Part of the runway is on high columns anchored about 60 metres below sea level.
