A relaxing holiday on the island of Lanzarote, a place of beauty. Incredible landscapes created by volcanic eruptions, the omnipresent legacy of local native César Manrique and warm weather all year round – that's a basic description of the island. You'll discover the beautiful Timanfaya National Park, the beautiful sandy beaches, the wild coastline, the unforgettable Jardin de Cactus, or the Caldera Blanca hike. And there's so much more. Every day a new part of the island opens up before you. The advantage is that the island is not very big, so you can stay in one place for the whole of your stay. Lanzarote is also known for its special way of grape growing – you will have plenty of opportunities to taste the excellent local wine. We were here in February, it wasn't for swimming, but otherwise it was an optimal time. Only a few tourists everywhere and relatively warm weather. In the summer it's probably worse in terms of the amounts of people.

Transfer to the airport and departure

Stop for a tour of the Castillo de Santa Bárbara and its pirate museum, or a tour of the town of Arrecife. Departure.

Depending on your departure time, you will need to adjust the plan for today. But if you have a few hours, check out the island's former capital Teguise and then the current capital Arrecife.

Feel free to skip the town of Teguise itself. But just outside Teguise there is the Castillo de Santa Bárbara, which houses a pirate museum. You can drive all the way up to the castle (route). It's about a 50 minute drive from the accommodation, then you'll spend about 1.5 hours on site.

If you still have time, you can go to the capital Arrecife (route) and visit for example the fortress Castillo de San Gabriel, which is located on a small island, which you can reach by a bridge. You can park at the same location as on the third day – in these garages.

The airport is about a 10-minute drive away.

Museo de la Piratería

First of all, the views from here are magnificent. The castle itself is beautiful and the individual exhibitions tell many stories. Piracy was widespread and the inhabitants of Lanzarote often had to hide from pirate attacks. I don’t know why the reviews on TripAdvisor are so bland, we loved it here.

Castillo de San Gabriel

Small fortress on an islet in front of the town. It’s nothing special, but the path to the island and then on to the fishing pier is nice. There’s a nice view from the fort and a small museum inside, unfortunately the descriptions were only in Spanish.

Afternoon

Lanzarote Airport

Smaller airport south of the capital Arrecife. Here you will find a wide range of car rental companies.
