A relaxing holiday on the island of Lanzarote, a place of beauty. Incredible landscapes created by volcanic eruptions, the omnipresent legacy of local native César Manrique and warm weather all year round – that's a basic description of the island. You'll discover the beautiful Timanfaya National Park, the beautiful sandy beaches, the wild coastline, the unforgettable Jardin de Cactus, or the Caldera Blanca hike. And there's so much more. Every day a new part of the island opens up before you. The advantage is that the island is not very big, so you can stay in one place for the whole of your stay. Lanzarote is also known for its special way of grape growing – you will have plenty of opportunities to taste the excellent local wine. We were here in February, it wasn't for swimming, but otherwise it was an optimal time. Only a few tourists everywhere and relatively warm weather. In the summer it's probably worse in terms of the amounts of people.
You can spend the day at Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park.
You can think of today as a rest day. One of the places where you can spend it is Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park. In the high season it will probably be very crowded, but in spring or autumn it won't be so bad. I should warn you in advance that this is actually a zoo, so if you don't like zoos for whatever reason, skip this. The park is very nice. The vast majority of animal enclosures are really big, and the animal demonstrations were always conducted with the animals’ comfort and happiness in mind it seems. You can see shows with dolphins, sea lions, birds of prey, parrots and many more. If you're interested in the zoo, check out their website. It's close to your accommodation (route).
If you want to catch all the shows, come here first thing in the morning – they open at 9:30am. Click here for the times of each show. There's also a chance to take a dip in the park. It's especially great for kids, so pack your swimsuit. You'll spend at least 3 hours but more like half a day.
On the way home, stop at the shop in Playa Blanca (if you live in Villas Susaeta) and buy the ingredients for the evening barbecue.
Alternatives: instead of a day in the zoo, you may go exploring the underwater world. Arrange a diving session with Mojo Dive – it is suitable for beginners as well as expert divers. And if you haven't tried it on the previous days, you may rent a bike from Bike spot Lanzarote, or go on a sailing trip with Papagayo Catamaran.
ZOO park with an outdoor dolphinarium. We were here in the off season, which was nice, especially as there were only few people. It wasn’t bad at all, they have lots of activities – dolphin, sea lion, parrot and raptor shows. The park is very nice, the vast majority of the animal enclosures are really big and the animal demonstrations were always run with the happiness and safety of the animals in mind.
In summer there is also a small water park.
