Jordan is a Middle Eastern country bordering Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. It covers an area of just under 90,000 km² and has a population of almost 10 million. Jordan, in full the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is a constitutional monarchy and its capital is Amman, where 50% of all industry in the country is concentrated. 90% of Jordan's population practises Islam, and there is also a small presence of Christianity.

The east of the country is mostly stony desert, which gradually transitions into the Jordan Valley, through which flows the Jordan River, which is sacred to the inhabitants. It flows into the Dead Sea, the lowest point in the world. Jordan also has 20 km of coastline on the Arabian Gulf. Worth mentioning is the rock city of Petra, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The climate in the west of the country is Mediterranean changing to desert climate towards the east. Rainfall is very low.
